Information for International Buyers of Licence-Required Firearms

Although gun laws in Australia are strict, the process is available to export license-required firearms or pistols. Vickers & Hoad can help you obtain the required export permits, however this application process will take a minimum of 14 working days once all documentation has been submitted and, in some cases, may take longer.

REGISTRATION

To process your registration, we require a legal and valid form of photo I.D. to be sent to info@vickhoad.com prior to auction.

BIDDING

International bidders have three (3) methods of bidding as below.

1. Online, live bidding through Invaluable.com

Standard Buyer’s Premium of 25% + GST

2. Telephone bidding through a team member live at auction

Reserved for lots with lower end estimates of AUD300 and above

Standard Buyer’s Premium of 20% + GST

3. Absentee bids left prior to auction

Standard Buyer’s Premium of 20% + GST

(Please note GST does not apply to international buyers but is stated below for Australian bidders)

PAYMENT

As Vickers & Hoad do not store any credit card information, all payments must be processed by the bidder following the auction. Payments can be made via bank transfer or EFT. For all card purchases, a VISA surcharge of 1.47% and MasterCard surcharge of 1.35% applies. For bank transfers, an AUD25 fee applies.

EXPORT APPLICATION

Once payment has been made, the application to obtain a permit to export can begin. We require copies of your firearm license that confirm your legal eligibility to possess and carry your purchased items. We will also send documents to you via email that need to be completed, signed and returned. These documents support our application and identify you as the end-user or consignee of items. An in-house service fee of AUD30 per application applies. This fee may be waived at our discretion.

SHIPMENT/DELIVERY

Once a permit to export is obtained, the firearms are de-registered here in Australia and are eligible for shipment. At this point the responsibility falls under the end-user or consignee’s purview. If you need assistance, we can recommend carriers that provide efficient and effective transportation services.

A brokerage service may be required to assist with transportation. Registered brokers can be found here: http://www.defence.gov.au/ExportControls/RegisterBroker.asp
