Mahogany trunk and hood over Restored with a flat unknown finish. Ex Mt Stromlo Canberra, unknown working condition. With pendulum Keys & single weight in office (D4157A-37), approx 184cm H x 40cm W x 23cm D.

From investigations this clock appears to have been sold by public auction in 1997
Details - Another clock No 1062 was transferred to Mt Stromlo Observatory in 1944, along with the 8-inch transit telescope. The telescope was subsequently sent to Greenwich Observatory, then returned to Melbourne in the 1970s, and is now held in the Museum's collection. The Frodsham No 1062, along with another ex-Melbourne Observatory Frodsham clock, believed to be this clock 880 was sold at public auction by Mt Stromlo Canberra in 1997. The clock No 1062 was also prevented from being exported under the Commonwealth Government's Protection of Moveable Cultural Heritage legislation.
Arnold Frodsham Clock numbers to dates 1844 – 1858 from approximately No. 600 – 900 this clock being 880 in number date it circa 1856-1857

Near identical clock is housed in the Power house Museum and is considered the most important piece in the collection due to its part in our early astrological history.
Notes - After the death of John Roger Arnold in 1844, Charles Frodsham brought his business at 84 Strand, London. At first he signed his instruments 'J.R. Arnold - Chas Frodsham' but in 1857 he began working under his own name from the same address. In 1885 the company began engraving their clocks Frodsham and Co. although they still worked from the same address.
