FINE HOOKED BOOMERANG, COOPERS CREEK, SOUTH AUSTRALIA, Carved and engraved hardwood and natural pigment (with custom stand) Hooked boomerangs typical of the desert. They were used with advantage in fighting, as the hook caught on the edge of the shields, causing the boomerang to swing around behind it. These were finely fluted on their upper surfaces with reverse adzed markings and rubbed with red ochre. Extra decoration was added to the head only. Approx L72.5 x 23.5cm.
