SUPERB EARLY INCISED PARRYING SHIELD, DARLING RIVER REGION, NEW SOUTH WALES, Carved and engraved hardwood and natural pigment (no custom stand) Early nineteenth century. Parrying Shield of bi-convex section and elongated triangular profile, with solid cut handle, showing beautifully carved sections of chevron and linear motifs emphasised by the surrounding smooth surface, terminating with undecorated bosses on the upper and lower face. Imperial Chinese flambe glaze vase, Hu Qianlong six character incised seal mark and of the period (1736-1795) The deep bowl-shaped body raised on a spreading foot has a bow-string border below the shoulder and a pair of trailing scroll handles flanking the neck, and is covered with a glaze of crushed strawberry-red colour streaked in purple and milky blue. Along with purchase receipt Hong Kong 1980. Certificate of Identity No C 61144.
